Kirby

Kirby paced downstairs as he waited for Lottie to come out of her room. He looked at his watch. They weren't going to head out for another fifteen minutes. He knew she had gotten out of the shower over a half-hour ago and retreated into the black hole.

The black hole that caused him so many headaches with the pack. Apparently, it was fine for the pack's guest to go off the grid for any length of time, but the guys all freaked out when he did the same thing.

Thank fuck the guys headed out the moment they heard he planned on taking Lottie out on a date.

He probably shouldn't have gotten ready so quickly, but he didn't even think he was rushing things until he got downstairs. Now he wished one of the guys was still there, so he didn't wear out the floorboards.

Kirby finally heard Lottie's door open. He stopped himself from dashing up the stairs to meet her. Instead, he waited with bated breath for her to make the grand entrance.

His jaw dropped when he saw her. She looked gorgeous in a little black dress and studded booties. He had to use his hands to hide the bulge that had formed in his pants. She smiled as she asked, "You like it?"

He couldn't really formulate words yet. Although hearing her speak, he managed to think of a word she used around him. "Aye."

He went over to her and gave her a kiss on the cheek. He wanted to taste her lips, but he didn't think he had earned that right just yet, hopefully, by the end of the night. But even that peck on the cheek made him want to taste her and claim her even more.

He held out his arm and said, "I'm sorry that I don't have something like chocolate or flowers for you tonight. It's not that you aren't worth it."

She pressed a finger on his lips. "Hush. I don't expect gifts. Really."

Before the challenge with Delaney, he probably wouldn't have said anything more, but today was different. He couldn't help himself. He kissed her finger and then grabbed her hand. "Let me finish. But I do have a surprise for you at the restaurant."

She smirked and raised an eyebrow. "What? You aren't going to tell me?"

"A panna cotta tasting menu." It was her favorite dessert. Although Kirby’s favorite steakhouse didn't actually have it on the menu, he was able to get a few neighboring restaurants to agree to deliver their version of the sweet treat. He was actually pretty proud of the idea even before Lottie's whole face lit up.

"Yum."

"I thought you might like it." He knew sweets after dinner weren't the treat he really wanted for himself. He wanted to taste her, but it was the first date, and he'd seen her after dates. She tended to be mellow, and he didn't want to fail her in any way.

He led the way to the car, then drove to Manny's steakhouse. The
